Mike also reminded folks to check into the Callaway County net (147.315+) at 8:45pm after our local net. He is still working with Tim on the battery replacement project. Digipeater report: No report. Missouri Emergency Packet Network (MEPN): Jim, NØTKN, reported that he used it earlier this week and noticed no issues. Local Emergency Coordinator's report: Rich, NØJBF, reported no updates. Kevin Wieberg was contacted for arrangements for doing the Cole County badges. District Emergency Coordinator’s report: Joe, KBØQHZ, reported no updates. During the net on the 11th, while operating from JCPD, simplex reception was checked to get an idea of the coverage area. Reception was found to degrade south of Jefferson City around 14 miles and out to the west near the McGirk area. Joe suggested that those calling the net, request signal reports from stations to see how well they can copy Net Control on simplex. This will give you a good idea of how well your signal can be copied from your location should the repeater be unavailable. VE Liaison’s report: Nancie, NMØC, reported that the VE training class/exam will be on Saturday, January 14th at the JCPD training room. CW Classes: Bill, W4RK, reported the classes are going well. There is a new beginning student and they are trying to work this person in with the rest of the group. The advanced class meets at Mel’s Country Café at 6:45am on Saturday mornings. The beginning class has been combined with the intermediate class and things have been going well. This class meets at Mel’s after breakfast on Saturday mornings at 9am. Training Committee: Mike, KMØS, reported no updates, but with the changes coming to the Extra Class question pool in July, a training class for upgrading to Extra may be looked into sometime in the Spring. Club Shirts/Jackets/Patches: No report. Mid-Mo Emergency Radio Service: Rich, NØJBF, reported that since the Holidays are out of the way, work needs to continue on this by getting the By-Laws approved, followed by creating a mission statement, and putting together a budget. New business Program suggestions for the upcoming year were received. In no particular order, suggestions included the following: Solar Forecast Number Interpretation Traffic Handling Old Style Wire Telegraphy Radon Hazards in Basements EMP Phenomenon Elecraft KX3 demonstration Operating event suggestions were discussed and included the following: A Talk-to-Santa event next Christmas season A special event for Truman’s birthday Ships-on-the-Air event U.S. Islands on the Air event Announcements: Jim, NØTKN, passed around a UTC clock he purchased at Menards for $25 in case anyone was interested in getting one. Rich, NØJBF, announced that our own Laura Teske, KDØGRV, will be performing with the Capital City Players in the production of Man of La Mancha at Shikles Auditorium. Hamfests coming up include the North KC Hamfest on January 21st and also Winterfest in Collinsville, IL on January 28th. Karl, WA2KBZ, thanked those who helped with his antenna project.
