Tim and Tom are hoping to get the repeater pulled and do testing. The repeater may be down for a day or two during this time. An email will be circulated to notify when this takes place. Digipeater report: No report. Missouri Emergency Packet Network (MEPN): Jim, NØTKN, reported that more field trips were made to the site and a bad modem was identified. A replacement modem has been acquired and another trip will take place to install it next week. The last replacement modem lasted about 2 days. Bill, W4RK, reported that he and Jim were able to check into the St. Louis County ARES digital net on MEPN. The link was made going direct to Centralia and skipping the Jefferson City node. Emergency Coordinator's report: Joe, KBØQHZ reported nothing major this month so far. There is some coordination being done for the communications exercise on October 7th from 9:00AM to 2:30PM. The MO Emergency Services Net will be activated on 3.963 MHz with an alternate of 7.263 MHz for the entirety of the SEMA exercise. It is hoped to have 4 to 5 local HF capable stations with Internet available in the shack to help. There will be E TEAM training held on September 22nd from 6:00PM to 10:00PM for those interested in participating in the exercise on October 7th. Rick, KCØPET, reported the Level 1 EMCOMM classes have been narrowed down to two days, October 3rd and October 10th from 10:30AM to 5:30PM. The test date is not yet set. VE Liaison’s report: Jack, WBØS, reported that the test session after the last meeting resulted in one new Technician licensee, KDØIRG. No tests are currently scheduled. CW Class: Kent, K9ZTV, reports that they are continuing to lean on the students to get them to higher speeds. They are up to 15wpm without using the Farnsworth method. A new class may be started if there is enough interest from new students. This class meets after breakfast at 9am every Saturday morning at Mel’s Country Café. Tom, NØSS, reports that the advanced class is still going well. This class meets before breakfast at Mel’s at 6:45am. Training Committee: Mike, KMØS, reported that the committee is working on putting together an Extra study session and would like people to think about dates and times to start. It will be a Q&A format with discussions. Technician classes are being held by state agencies but if the club would like to do one also, it is something to think about. A General study session will be looked into for next Spring. Bike MS Express Scripts Gateway Getaway Ride (MS150): The event will be held on September 12th & 13th. The SAG vans will be wired tomorrow with a crew departing for Columbia at 2:15PM. The van staging area will be located at McKnight Plaza on Providence Road. Net control will begin setting up at 11:00AM. Zonta 5K Run: This event will be held on September 19th starting at 7:30AM at Memorial Park on Main Street. It will begin and end at Memorial Park and should be completed by 10:00AM. New business Test Sessions: Mike, KMØS, states that the Highway Patrol will have people coming in from various parts of the state for ham radio test sessions. These will be on October 15th, October 29th, and November 5th. Mike would like to enlist help from the club to run the test sessions which will be held at the Highway Patrol Academy. JOTA: Andy, WBØPZR, contacted Mike, WAØZOG, about helping a local Boy Scout Troop with their annual Jamboree On The Air event. The event is scheduled for October 17th and 18th this year and would be a great opportunity to showcase ham radio to some young minds. Announcements: Karl, WA2KBZ, has a desk that he would gladly donate to a new ham for an operating position. Anyone interested please get in touch with him.
