Please make sure to get them submitted by the next meeting. New modems have been acquired, but nothing has been done yet. Digipeater report: Nothing new to report. May want to make the MEPN machine our local repeater. We need to bring power supply and TNC back to Jack to clean and send back out. Missouri Emergency Packet Network (MEPN): Jim, NØTKN, reported that two field trips were made to the site for testing. The equipment is functioning well, but the TNC is the problem. The system is not identifying the Centralia node. The problem is being worked on and a solution may be close at hand. Emergency Coordinator's report: Joe, KBØQHZ reported that it was an eventful month. There was participation in the MO Hospital Association communication exercise at DSR. It was a coordinated effort between HF receiving and transmitting simplex to the DSR. There was great cooperation among all participants. Several sites accessed the Show-Me Intertie to further prove the communications capabilities of the system. Doug Tice, KDØDAM, has requested help in getting books ordered for the EMCOMM classes. Tom, NØSS volunteered to help out. Study dates are not yet set. Joe will work with Doug on the dates for both study sessions and test sessions. Currently October 8th is the tentative test date. VE Liaison’s report: Jack, WBØS, reported there was one test that Tom took care of one Saturday after breakfast. One Technician and one General upgrade was the result. There will be one to test tonight. CW Class: Kent, K9ZTV, reports that the focus is on QSO’s in the slow speed class. The class will then be moving to actual QSO’s with one another. This class meets after breakfast at 9am every Saturday morning at Mel’s Country Café. Tom, NØSS, reports that the advanced class is still going well. This class meets before breakfast at Mel’s at 6:45am. Training Committee: No Report. Bike MS Express Scripts Gateway Getaway Ride (MS150): The event will be held on September 12th & 13th. Training will be held in Columbia on August 20th at Country Kitchen on Providence Road. Radio operators are still welcome and needed to help out. Zonta 5K Run: This will tentatively be held on September 19th and volunteers will be needed for this event as well. New business VP Nominations: Mark, NØVAU, has resigned his position as Vice-President. According to the Club’s by-laws, nominations can be made for a replacement and voted on immediately. Tom nominated Rick Bennett, KCØPET. Bill seconded. No other nominations were made and Rick was voted in by acclamation. Announcements: Tom attended the Washington Hamfest and reported that it wasn’t a bad turn out. Congratulations to Tom on being a new Grandpa!
