The combined course material will be in effect sometime later this year either in the summer or fall. Those who have signed up online for the Level 2 or Level 3 courses will be notified about the change. Information sheets on the ARRL and ARES along with applications for each were provided for anyone interested in one or both organizations. Also, Joe brought in some QST magazines for donations to anyone interested, especially the new members who may not yet be familiar with them. There will be some kind of exercise coming up this month but right now there is not a lot known about it. More details will be coming out as they become available. VE Liaison’s report: WBØS was not present due to being under the weather, but NØSS reported there was only one person scheduled to test, but had to reschedule to a later date. CW Class: The class is continuing and anyone interested is welcome to join in anytime. This class meets after breakfast at 9am every Saturday morning at Mel’s Country Café. Mayor’s Run for Reading: Event will be held on Saturday, April 25th from 8am to 10am. The date has been changed from the original date announced. Five to six volunteers are requested to help out and should contact Kent Trimble, K9ZTV via email (k9ztv@socket.net) to confirm. New hams are especially welcome and will most likely be stationed with another ham to observe and learn how the public service events are run. Training Committee: KDØDDY reported that the General Class training is going well. There are about 20 people participating. The class meets on Thursday nights starting at 6:30 at the Department of Health, 930 Wildwood Drive, Jefferson City, MO 65109 in the Maple Conference Room. Field Day: Field Day will be held on June 27th and 28th. NØVAU reported that two vehicles (the SEMA van and the MEOC) have been reserved. The DPS vehicle has already been requested by the Nixa club and will not be available. NØSS suggested that we send out a request immediately following Field Day to reserve it for next year. K9ZTV has contacted Porite about the use of their property, but currently has not heard back. KC7ARR has volunteered the use of his 5th wheel if he has it in time. This could be used as an operating position or as a welcome center/hospitality room. New business None Announcements: KDØDDY requested the help of K9ZTV and W4RK to talk to the sponsoring senator regarding legislation (bill SB-30) which prohibits text messaging while driving. As introduced, there is no exclusion for amateur radio. Thanks to this effort the bill has been amended to correct this and it is now before the Public Safety Committee for review. Thanks to Nancie for flagging this item! NØSS received a letter from William Woods University regarding the availability of meeting rooms. Thanks to this well timed letter, we were able to make use of their facility for the April meeting. There is no fee for the first time use, but should we elect to make more regular use of the facilities there would be a usage fee to be accounted for. KDØFAS presented a form that could be kept in your car for use in helping to report traffic accident information. These forms were made available to anyone interested. Karl Schulte is doing better but is not back to 100%. Keep him in your prayers as we wish him back to good health. Presentation: KCØPET gave a presentation on HF Antenna Fundamentals. Respectfully submitted: Mark Eberle (KIØY), Secretary-Treasurer. Visit the MMARC web page at: http://www.mmccs.com/mmarc ?? ?? ?? ??
