The old repeater will be kept in place as a stand-by, backup repeater. They haven’t decided yet whether the amplifier will be used with the old or new repeater. Digipeater report: No report. MEPN: No report Emergency Coordinators report: Volunteers are needed for the May 20, 2006 Easter Seal Walkathon. CW Class: The CW class continues to meet every Saturday, at 0645 (before breakfast), at Mel’s Country Café. New business: Dues: Jack Boswell (NØKSF) noted that many members are late with their annual dues payment, and suggested that a general email message be sent to all members by Tom Hammond (NØSS) reminding them that the dues are due. Chili Cook off: More than 30 people showed up and all had a good time. Many thanks were expressed to Tom (NØSS) and Jeri (KØRPH) Hammond for hosting the occasion. Dayton: Kent Trimble (K9ZTV) has two rooms reserved, if anyone needs them. Four Days In May (FDIM) will be at the Fairborn Holiday Inn, same as last year. Kent encouraged everybody to go and support the Hamfest. Field Day: Mike Miller (WAØZOG) reported that Gary Zielman (KØWYN), who was not present, has suggested sponsoring a Boy Scout Merit Badge to attract the public. After some discussion, it was suggested that Jim Kovar (KCØHOS), who has worked extensively with the Boy Scouts, be asked to be the BSA contact. Mike Miller (WAØZOG) recommended the use of trailers, air conditioning, and 100 watt power this year, and Kent Trimble (K9ZTV) reminded everyone of the sunspot minimum and recommended using the Tri-Bander. Charles Golden (NØROK) recommended the lot in front of the Capital Mall as this year’s location, and Ben Hoffman (NØOFD) recommended the Porite location as first choice. A consensus vote was held and Porite and 100 watts were the result. DX and Diving: Kevin Brown (KCØCZI) reported on his diving vacation to Bonaire. He was only able to operate on two occasions, and didn’t get out very well, but he won some money on a bet. Presentation: Jack Boswell (NØKSF) presented a program on the use of the MFJ 259-B Antenna Analyzer. VE exams: Mike McCrady (KCØUZA) took and passed his code test and became a General Class Operator. Owen Toalson (KCØLZG) took and passed the code test and became a Technician Plus Class Operator. Mike Thayer took and passed the Technician exam to become a Technician Class Operator.
