Old business:
2 Meter Net Report: 12

No Activity to report on the CW Net.
2 Meter Repeater Report: Amplifier is at NØSS’s QTH. Needs to re-build it. Running about 28 – 29 Watts output. TR Relay stuck in transmit mode, getting 1 Watt out, switch was burned out and needs to be re-built.
Digi-peater Report: Looked at the digi-peater but the rubber feet were decomposing. It is working, changed information section, thinking about putting it on APRS frequencies. Testing it at Kurt’s (KBØHNR) house. Has been changed to work better with Kantronics TNC equipment. 145.09 is covered by a digi-peater in Ashland, so that may be able to handle conventional packet traffic.
Emergency Coordinator Report: None to report, but the severe weather season is fast-approaching. Feb 24th was a weather net and discussion of how the active traffic was handled. March 13th is the annual tornado drill day. There will be a quick net and report number of participants to NWS offices in St. Louis and test out the link system. ARES activity in Springfield is setting up a system based on the Arkansas state-wide packet model. Kevin (KCØCZI) asks that anyone with a weather spotter number that is also interested in being a ARES member, should provide their NWS spotter number to him for his records.
Earth Day Special Event: Reported by Bryan (KØEMT)-- the call sign KØC has been issued. We are getting the space at the capitol grounds assigned to us. We are still looking for available operators and help with setting up and tearing down the tents and equipment. Hours are between 10:00a.m. – 3:30p.m. for the public, but we need time to set up before and after. Told the committee of our special needs. Can not use stakes in the ground, so that somewhat limits what we can do. KCØCZI offered his company’s tent. We should target our message to the 5th grade level and focus on SkyWarn activities. Earth Day is Friday April 20th, 2001.
RDF Kit Update: Eric (NMØX) brought some examples to look at after the meeting.
State Fair Representation: Jack (WØJES) was at SEMA Conference in February and spoke with Greg Hibbard (WØENW), director of Pettis County EMA, who said that they no longer set up a ham radio display at the State Fair. Jack thinks that Mo Dept of Agriculture would allow us to do that and has submitted a formal proposal. More to follow next month…
New business:
Tom has 4 truck loads of 1-5/8" hardline stored at his house. He has to give it away to anyone that can use it. It needs to be inventoried and sorted by lengths. Could be used to make a 6 Meter duplexer. Connectors are expensive, so getting used ones would be a good idea.
Mid Mo SkyWarn Affiliation Letter: Presented to MMARC for signature, motion made and seconded to endorse.
KCØCZI reported on the NWS training held on March 1, 2001. There were approximately 48 in attendance. There will be a meeting March 15th to review spotter information. Requested to be notified when new licensees are granted, so that they may receive a packet of information about ARES and SkyWarn.
Rohn Tower is being taken down this summer. 100 pounds per section. Need to make a trip to Nebraska to get it.
Kent (K9ZTV) will do next month’s presentation. Will show "The Last Word Out of Kuwait" about the Gulf War and amateur radio.
Show and Tell of some new equipment after the meeting.
NØXPD is studying for General Class exam and needs a current manual.
Rich Beckwith (WNØX) will get letters out to SEMA and Maytag for Field Day activities.
2 Meter GP-15 for $135.00, or Comet for $129.00 for club use at Field Day and MS 150, Boy Scout Jamboree. Motion made and seconded, voted to approve, to purchase the GP-15.
Respectfully submitted (04/24/2001): Steven C. Klenc, KCØACQ, Secretary-Treasurer
