Minutes of the Mid-MO Amateur Radio Club, Inc. Jefferson City, MO Meeting of: July 12, 2001 Meeting called to order by Kurt Bleich (KBØHNR) In attendance: WØJES, AAØZC, KØEMT, NØOFD, KCØCZI, NØSS, KBØQHZ, KAØOUV, NØIB, NØZH, KØDXR, WBØTPK, WNØX, KBØHNR, KCØIFL, WØRAJ, K9ZTV, NØMV, NØQOI, KCØJDW, KCØACQ, {KAØUAP, Marzene Hickam - guests for testing} Date / location of the next meeting: August 9, 2001. Central United Church of Christ, corner of Washington and W. Ashley Streets. Enter from the alley on the east side of the church (midway up the alley). Minutes: Minutes from the meetings of June 14, 2001 were read, corrections noted, motioned and seconded for approval. Bank balance: $1831.51 Old business: 2 Meter Net Report: Dave (NØMV) 13 Tom (NØSS) 10 Joe (KBØQHZ) 7 Tom (WØRAJ) ? 2 Meter Repeater Report: Lack of power output, re-wired the keying circuits, leads on pass , removed all pre-circuitry, Tim (KAØOUV) did a voltage measurement, modified keying circuits, finally put it back in the tower, but had no output. Emitter leads on final amp transistors had cold solder joints, so after re-heating them the repeater seems to be working OK. Mid-States wastes getting into repeater. Tri-Star will test the base station at Mid-State. Now Jeff City Police Department is being heard on the repeater. CTCSS decode is working properly. KAØOUV will continue to work on the problem. We could put another atennuator on the receive, but would need another set of slugs. Tom is fairly confident that the interference coming from Mid-State Waste is their problem. Spur signals could be mixing with other signals. Digi-peater Report: APRS digipeater is now on a higher antenna tower. The club's digipeater was not on the air when KBØHNR listened for it. Digipeater's call sign has changed from WØSMI-3 to KCØIRJ-3. Not currently configured as a relay. We have two separate repeaters: 443.175 and 443.375. Emergency Coordinator Report: NØOFD and KCØCZI met with the Red Cross and provided some information to help them with a grant for some radio communications equipment. No emergencies, no skywarn activation. Direction Finding Report: Eric Raub has moved to Joplin. There is a newer and better Doppler unit on the market which will be a worthy replacement for the kit Eric was working on. We will be re-evaluating our DF 'direction'. Field Day Summary: Set-up went smoothly. We were ahead of schedule setting up, but some confusion slowed things down a bit. VHF was on the air at 1:00 pm sharp. Checks were written to KBØHNR for sanitary dump charges for the DPS van and Corrections vehicle, NØQOI for diesel fuel for the generators, KCØCZI for food. 1,172 CW QSO's 913 phone QSO's 7714 points is a new record by approximately 200 points MMARC will probably be in the top 25 out of 530 - 540 entries. We have been in the top 25 every year except one for the past 15 years. Future improvement depends on better contest operating technique by the membership. We should try to get more practice doing other contests through out the year. We should also try to involve more kids and young folks. Possibly hand out information about Field Day when we do the Earth Day special event. 'Thank You' letters are being sent out to the agencies that provided us with equipment, and to Maytag for the use of their field. New business: MS 150 is coming up in September. Want to improve and co-ordinate the APRS activities and equipment. May want to use the DPS tower, but would have to find a different location. That may create a problem with operating out of the mayor's trailer for net control. Jamboree on the Air: Coming up in October. Halloween Special Event: 2 Meter Net Controllers: July 18th Mike Dolson (NØZH) July 25th Dave Taylor (NØMV) August 1st Ben Hoffman (NØOFD) August 8th Kevin Brown (KCØCZI) Ten Meter CW Net has been moved to 10:00 on Wednesday nights. Tune to 28.258 MHz. Respectfully submitted DATE: Steven C.
